Dark pale ales are not usually my favorite type of beer but I recently had one I liked. It is called Dark Rain by BridgePort Brewing Company. Now I like dark beer and I like pale ales but in the past the combination of the two has been too much. Pale ales usually have a decent amount of hops while dark beers are a heavier and rich beer. For me it is been like a conflict of interest…I want either a dark beer or a hoppy beer but the Dark Rain is a great combination of the two. It has the flavor of a dark beer but not the heaviness which makes it a very delightful and flavorful beer. Bridgeport describes it as…”hoppy with a drizzle of roasted malt.” If that doesn’t make you want to try it then I don’t know what would
