Left Hand

Left Hand Brewing Co. is a local brewery in Longmont, Colorado. Their first batch of beer was their Sawtooth Ale that remains a popular brew.

Left Hand Brewing Co. started in 1993 as Indian Peaks Brewing Co. After a conflict of names with another brewery’s beer style, they became Left Hand in honor of Chief Niwot, whose tribe wintered in the area. “Niwot” is the southern Arapahoe word for left hand.

Sawtooth Ale is a favorite of mine as well as the Stranger Pale Ale and Milk Stout Nitro. Good Juju is also a tasty beer…it is a light beer that is brewed with ginger. The flavor was not overwhelming but delightful and would have been perfect with some sushi 😀

The Stranger Pale Ale is an american pale ale…fairly light in body and hops compared to some pale ales. The hops and citrus notes dance across the tongue…

Milk Stout Nitro

The Milk Stout Nitro is an amazing beer by Left Hand. For those that don’t know, Nitro means that the beer is nitrogenated instead of carbonated. And actually the beer is still carbonated some before it is nitrogenated because it gives it body and causes it to not be flat. The failure in nitrogenated beers is when it is too flat. I have had multiple beers that have been too flat but the Milk Stout Nitro is absolutely, amazingly perfect 😀

The Milk Stout Nitro is a billion times better than the original Milk Stout…it is a creamy, dark, beautifully brewed beer with a nice thick white head that leaves a delicate moustache.

Left Hand was the first American brewery to “master the science” of bottling a nitrogenated craft beer. Though I am partial to it being a draft beer, the bottled Milk Stout Nitro does suffice. Currently, the bottled Milk Stout Nitro can be found in Chicago, Austin, Boston, Phoenix, Atlanta, Cleveland, and New York City.

If you get the chance, try this beer!! Or if you are in Colorado, get this beer on tap 🙂

  1. lol–I have a small bottle opener from Left Hand. Must have been a giveaway at a food show? It’s my go-to opener. And love the song:-)

  2. Ooo, those beers look mighty refreshing. Last night was “Beer Monday” at out house, and we got very lucky, stumbling onto a delicious beer. I’m afraid I don’t remember the name. Celebrators, perhaps? -Had a picture of two rams on the front. Wonderful beer, I highly recommend!

    • Beer Monday sounds awesome!! 🙂 It must have the Celebrator…a German beer. Was it dark? A doppebock perhaps? I only recognize because partially the name and if it was two rams…maybe actually goats? lol Goats are typically associated with bock beers.

  3. So many refreshing beers 😀
    I love your photos!

  7. Gosh this beer makes me thirsty 🙂 No Left Hand beer in Australia. We don’t even have right handed beer. The shame of it all.
