The four main food groups are candy, candy canes, candy corns and syrup. Buddy the Elf had it right…the holidays are filled with sweets! Almost every food blog has multiple cookie posts and delicious little treats. All the cookies look great and I wish I could bake all of them but where is the time?
This year my mom and I got together for a cookie marathon. Though I have been seeing all these amazing recipes we stuck to some of the traditional cookies we make every year: gingerbread cookies, peanut butter kiss cookies, and Russian tea cookies. My mom also made some wine biscuits.
Gingerbread Cookies
Gingerbread cookies are are always fun to make. I love all the spices. This year we tried two different types to hopefully find our favorite recipe for next year
I had to leave before getting to decorate the cookies (I know, the best part!!) but my niece and mom took care of that
All the little gingerbread men make me smile.
Peanut Butter Kiss Cookies
Peanut butter kiss cookies are one of my favorite cookies and they are so easy to make! They don’t necessarily need to be a holiday cookie because they are good at all times but we always make them around Christmas.
This year we got the perfect ratio of chocolate to peanut butter cookie
Russian Tea Cookies
These cookies melt in your mouth…ultimate favorite holiday cookie!
They are best enjoyed with some eggnog.
Wine Biscuits
My mom wanted to make wine biscuits…a great snack with cheese and wine
Elf doesn’t just teach us about the four main food groups but about enjoying every minute of the holidays. Elf is a movie I could watch again and again. It is not only hilarious but such a lighthearted movie that warms the heart.
I hope everyone is enjoying the little things in life like Buddy the Elf does.
