Velvet Merlin

Ever since our first real snow right before Christmas the weather has remained chilly. Coloradans get spoiled a lot…typically there will be a big snow and then the next day the sun is shining and all the snow melts away. The snow isn’t really the issue (it is so beautiful!) but the temperatures have been low.

How do we handle this weather? We stay inside by a warm fire (if you are fortunate to have one), relax and enjoy a dark winter beer πŸ™‚

Velvet Merlin by Firestone Walker Brewing was my winter beer selection yesterday. The Velvet Merlin is an Oatmeal Stout. It was a yummy dark, creamy stout. It had a very subtle flavor, not too complex but flavorful enough to keep you interested.

Following Christmas I couldn’t eat sweets for a few days yet had all these sweets! The craving finally came back and I enjoyed that last of the Russian Tea Cookies with my stout πŸ˜€
