Bomber Friday: La Fin Du Monde

It’s Friday, so grab your favorite six-pack on the way home from work or enjoy a new beer. Bombers are 22 fl oz bottles of beer that often contain a brewery’s elite or unique concoction. Like a good bottle of wine, they are great for sharing and sipping πŸ™‚ Stay tuned for periodic blasts of bomber Fridays.

La Fin Du Monde is a Belgian tripel-style beer that is brewed by Unibrou in Chambly, QC, Canada. It should be served in a tulip glass but I only had a snifter glass and it still tasted great πŸ™‚ (see image below of beer glass types). This strong Belgian ale pours golden blonde in color with a lingering white head. La Fin Du Monde is definitely one of my favorite Belgian beers. It is very smoooth and delicious πŸ™‚

Pairs well with:
Unibroue suggests any type of salty blue cheese or a wide variety of dishes made with mussels, salmon, scallops, game, or sausage. Try it with ChgoJohn’s Salmon en Papillote or Amanda’s Salmon Cakes with Lemon Aioli Sauce. YUM!

  2. love the beer glass chart–who knew? (well, you probably did πŸ˜‰ ) Happy weekend, Lilly Sue!

  3. That looks so refreshing! It’s not even noon here in California, but I could totally go for a glass – cheers!

  4. Really like the ‘right glass’ as I never knew those. I just know how to drink!

  5. Love the La Fin Du Monde! The hubs and I are suckers for Belgians around here. I’ll have to try it with those salmon recipes you mentioned. Oh, and, I’m of the opinion that bombers are always for sipping. πŸ˜‰

    • Ya I think it could be good with a variety if recipes. I haven’t tried it with these recipes but I bet it will be good πŸ™‚ thanks!

  6. Both beer an mention were a surprise, Lilly Sue. Your review makes me think that I’d really enjoy the beer. Another one to look for. Thanks for the mention and for the lesson in glassware. This one’s getting pinned!

  7. I love the color of this one. πŸ™‚

  8. I love the retro can look too cute πŸ™‚

    Cheers

  9. Always enjoy a good Belgian strong ale, and this one looks like a smooth mouthful of hello sailor. Looks like I might even be able to snaffle one off a local supplier. Can’t wait to share this with Peckish Sr if I can track it down.

    • Yes, this is definitely one could probably find πŸ™‚ I hope you enjoy!

      • I spoke to someone who distributes NZ beers in the US. They said they do distribute to Colorado but said that they’d need to know what part in order to be more useful.

        • I live in Denver. I bet I could find a few at Argonaut or another large liquor store. Let me know if you recommend any specifics and ill definitely keep my eyes open πŸ™‚

Good stuff! I try to try anything new I see from Unibrou. Sadly I don’t have enough cabinet space to own all the correct glass ware…but one day.

    • Me too. Right now I’m almost getting too full with brewery pint glasses. I keep getting them which are great when I want to take a picture of their beer but I can’t store all of them! What I really want is each glass type…I’m slowly working in that collection πŸ™‚

      • beertimestories says:

I have a dimpled steins, a ceramic stein, pilsner, and heffe glasses, and generic glasses for Belgian dark and blond ales, (snifter and goblet) I have a Stone Imp Stout glass and a red wine glass that I use for Stouts, along with some generic pints. It’s mostly the specialized glasses that I’m missing. Though from my drinking habits the ones I need are an English Pint glass and a Thistle, and maybe a tall skinny glass for Lambics, I tend to end up using a champagne flute for those.

    • Do you have a favorite unibrou beer?

      • beertimestories says:

hmm that is a good question…so many good ones to choose from. Out of their classics I would choose Blanche de Chambly and Emphemere Pomme (though I have not had that one in years), though everything from them that I tried I liked. Out of the specialties, Quelque Chose and Terrible. Sadly I have not had a chance to try most of their specials and a number of the regular brews.

  11. This is my husband’s favorite beer, and he’s a man who likes his beers. (Do they give CO babies beer instead of formula? If so, he was probably one of those babies.)
