Dizzy’s Donuts

Dizzy’s Donuts in Boulder, Colorado makes fresh, fun and delicious donuts. They are constantly making unique donuts like S’mores, Lemon Meringue, Peanut Butter & Jelly, and Jalapeno Cheddar. All the exciting donuts make me want them all the time!

To get the special donuts you must arrive fairly early because they can go fast! Today they have strawberry cheddar, chocolate chip, peanut butter & chocolate, and maple bacon for some of the specialty ones. They also always have the classic donuts if you are not feeling adventurous.

My mother has been raving about these donuts for quite some time and we finally had a little outing in Boulder together to eat some :) We went specifically for the Crème brûlée donut and also got to try the Maple Bacon. The Maple Bacon has the perfect combination of sweet and salty.

The Crème Brulee donut had the hard caramel topping and then the custard filling. It was delicious! I love custard filling donuts and this set the bar higher.

  1. Oh my GOSH. The list of donuts you included sounds divine! Peanut butter mousse, chocolate ganache with salted peanuts and caramel… aaah! I wish we had the same shop over here in Western Australia. I’ll just have to live vicariously through you for now. Try the pb one for me? xx

  2. Oh, wow. I love donuts and they look and sound delectable. Wish we had something close to that in our area. We have tons of donut shops but they are all just the standard type donuts.

Maybe I’ll try making some of my own this weekend and see how that turns out :)

    • That sounds like a lovely idea! :) Tell me how it goes! I know people make them but I always feel like it will be too much work and not taste as great. Thanks for stopping by and commenting!

  3. love that there are no holes–more donut that way :-) Gotta love the bacon on a donut. We have a handful of “gourmet” donut spots here as well and I’m always wow-ed by the innovative flavors. What a great mother-daughter field trip :-)

    • Trendy donuts seem to be more and more of a thing- much better than the franchise doughnut shops! We NEED one in Denver- oh wait, maybe not :-/

Ya, my mother and I use to have this favorite mom and pops doughnut shop that we would always go to on our way to the mountains since it was in Idaho Springs- when it closed we were so bummed but it is great to see more freshly made doughnut shops popping up :)

    • ha ha just living in Denver I can’t get there very often but ya if I lived in Boulder I am afraid I would go there far too often :-/ I am glad to be able to look forward to it on my trips to Boulder though :)

  4. I’m drooling!! I may need to go to Top Pot Doughnuts later … *hungry twinge*

BTW, meant to tell you I had an Elysian dragonstooth stout over the weekend. Have you had that?! Still gotta track down the avatar jasmine variety but the dragonstooth stout was UH MAZING. :)

  5. OMG! It’s been way too long since I’ve visited your blog but OMG those doughnuts look AMAZING!!!! I’ve been wanting to visit Denver for awhile but I may have to go to Boulder for these!! The creme brulee one looks AMAZING and I’m so intrigued by strawberry cheddar. Please–more updates on how it goes! :)

Also, my bf and I are considering going to a The Head and the Heart concert but are kind of on the fence since neither of us have heard much of their music. Do you have any fav songs you can recommend (aside from the one you linked today)? :)

    • Denver is great! But luckily for you, Boulder is not too far away :) These donuts are worth visiting!

I don’t know the Head and the Heart super well but I like them. With concerts I always base it off how much I love them, their possible performance style and the price. I bet they would be a good concert but maybe a little more chill…I like their song Shake and Down in the Valley but really they are a fairly new band to me.

SO glad you stopped by!! I have been slacking this summer on visiting other blogs as well as just keeping up with my own! :)
