This year was my first year ever attending the Great American Beer Festival. It seems crazy but every year there has been something with school that has kept me from going. That ended this year! Thursday night I got to attend the first session of the weekend. People were waiting in line well before doors opened anticipating all the tasty brews! Though the line seemed never-ending, it went by fairly quickly.
There was lots of beer, more beer, and then some more beer π The breweries were divided up into sections based off of regional location. Though I love all my CO breweries, I tried to stay in other areas to taste beer that is not available here. Other than a lot of beer, there was a silent disco. These are pretty entertaining to watch as everyone dances to their own tune…
Since there were too many beers to write about, I have compiled a list of some of the ones that were unique and memorable due to taste or name/label. I know you are not suppose to judge a book by its cover but I definitely judge a beer by its label π
Pecan Smoked Doppelbock- Ranger Creek Brewing and Distilling (San Antonio, TX)
A smoky pecan flavor becomes evident just after finishing a sip.
Sweet Yamma Jamma Ale- Indeed Brewing Company (Minneapolis, MN)
This was made with sweet potatoes and it was like eating pumpkin pie!
Insomniac Pale Ale- Crow Peak Brewing (Spearfish, SD)
Coffee infused pale ale!
Sex Bomb Chocolate Raspberry Stout- High Noon Saloon & Brewery (Leavenworth, KS)
This one was absolutely delicious!
Cahoots Double Rye IPA and Get Jacked Imperial Pumpkin- Uinta Brewing (Salt Lake City, UT)
Love Uinta!
Pack Dog Peanut Butter Ale- Marley’s Brewery and Grille (Bloomsburg, PA)
This was a light peanut butter ale- much different than peanut butter beers I have had.
Fancy Pants Begian-Style IPA- Mother’s Brewing Company (Springfield, MO)
I think the name describes it all.
Green Bullet Triple IPA- Green Flash (San Diego, CA)
An amazing IPA!
Hop Skip ‘N I’m Drunk IPA- Brickstone Brewery (Bourbonnais, IL)
I may have been bias because I loved the name π
Zombie Monkey Porter- Tallgrass Brewing Company (Manhattan, KS)
The beer that won’t escape your hand while being chased by zombies! (Grippers on the actual can)
