Euphoria

Instead of a bone chilling skeleton, a happy skeleton in cozy attire throws its arms out to warm you up in this cool weather by way of a winter pale ale. Euphoria, “a feeling of great happiness or well-being,” seems the perfect name for a beer that will bring cheer this winter. (Free Online Dictionary, 2009). The medical term for euphoria also caught my attention; “Euphoria is medically recognized as a mental and emotional condition in which a person experiences intense feelings of well-being, elation, happiness, excitement, and joy” (Right Diagnosis). I would love to get diagnosed with this disease! :D

Euphoria Pale Ale by Ska Brewing (Durango, CO) is a deliciously hoppy seasonal brew. Though it is hoppy, it is not a punch in the face of hops. It is very malty, balancing the hop character. It is bold in flavor but no bitterness was left on the tongue. Instead, there was a very pleasant after taste.

It pours a nice big head that slowly dissipates. A lot of pretty lacing coats the sides of the glass as you drink this winter cheer. Cheers!

  1. You had me at “Euphoria”which is just one of my favorite words! And isn’t it just the perfect name for a beer? Which is usually what happens to me after the second one…Great post.

  2. Kind of like how we’re not supposed to judge a book by its cover, but how else to judge outside of personal recommendation? How could you not want to drink a beer called Euphoria? Or any of the others you’ve featured? Love the creativity. Just wish I had more beer-drinking opportunities. Though. That’s why I come here–you can drink beer FOR me. Thanks for that :-D

    • Exactly! I totally agree- who ever thought of the name should have gotten a raise because the name with the skeleton sold the beer before looking further :D Is the beer selection limited where you are? Unfortunately, I do not think Ska is in Minnesota yet :( I will drink a beer for you anytime, Liz! You are so welcome! :)
