Instead of a bone chilling skeleton, a happy skeleton in cozy attire throws its arms out to warm you up in this cool weather by way of a winter pale ale. Euphoria, “a feeling of great happiness or well-being,” seems the perfect name for a beer that will bring cheer this winter. (Free Online Dictionary, 2009). The medical term for euphoria also caught my attention; “Euphoria is medically recognized as a mental and emotional condition in which a person experiences intense feelings of well-being, elation, happiness, excitement, and joy” (Right Diagnosis). I would love to get diagnosed with this disease! 😀
Euphoria Pale Ale by Ska Brewing (Durango, CO) is a deliciously hoppy seasonal brew. Though it is hoppy, it is not a punch in the face of hops. It is very malty, balancing the hop character. It is bold in flavor but no bitterness was left on the tongue. Instead, there was a very pleasant after taste.
It pours a nice big head that slowly dissipates. A lot of pretty lacing coats the sides of the glass as you drink this winter cheer. Cheers!
