Tribute to my Mom + Pear Cocktail

AWARDS time! This is a little overdue but I am finally getting around to responding to these lovely blog awards πŸ™‚ It seems inappropriate to be patting my back when this weekend is Mother’s Day and I am no mom but as a tribute to my loving mother my award acceptance speech goes to her…

Acceptance Speech:

Memories of my childhood are of both eating deliciously amazing meals and horrible veggies like sweet potatoes and tomatoes (don’t worry I eat tomatoes and sweet potatoes now!). My mother is an amazing cook and it was not just my imagination as a child nor were the tomatoes and sweet potatoes just a nightmare since we had to eat everything on our plates. Growing up, friends always wanted to eat over- sometimes I even wondered if my friends hung out with me for my mom’s cooking! Everyone always told my mom she should open a restaurant…she has so many kids (6) so free labor πŸ™‚ She never did because my mom loves being a mom more and now a grandmother πŸ™‚ My mom has always been so supportive in everything I do and it didn’t stop with this blog. She was my first follower and the one that thought of the clever name- Lilly Sue’s Bites and Brews. I have learned so much about cooking from her and she is a constant inspiration. She let’s me call her all the time to bounce ideas around and is always enthusiastic as I describe my recipes. She even got me into craft beer. Though I didn’t know I was embarking into craft beer at the time (we won’t discuss age) my mother started my palette with good beer making impossible for me to ever turn back πŸ˜€

Cheers to my mom and all you other wonderful moms and grandmas! Though it would be a appropriate to have a beer cocktail, this celebratory pear cocktail seemed perfect for this special weekend πŸ˜€
