Caribbean Beer Dinner

Last week I got to experience my first beer dinner. It was a delicious experience with beer provided by Great Divide and food by Highland Tap & Burger.

The dinner was Caribbean influenced and was a Bon Voyage to Tannea Musselman from Great Divide who will be their first representative outside of Colorado. It was a five course meal that started with the Nomad Pilsner and a Jumpin’ Good Goat Cheese Crostini. Unfortunately, I was running late so I missed it but Jumpin’ Goat Cheese is awesome!

The next course was Shrimp and Mahi Mahi Ceviche. This was full of flavor with Ancho chili, orange, Pico, avocado, and mango cumin creme. It was served with Yucca Chips and paired with the Heyday Belgian Style White Ale.

The Marinated Skirt Steak Spring Rolls with Vermicelli noodles, mint, napa slaw and three dipping sauces paired with the 19th Anniversary Ale. The three dipping sauces were sweet chili key lime, pineapple ginger, and Thai peanut. The best sauce pairing with the beer was definitely the pineapple ginger. It really calmed the booze in the strong anniversary ale making them a great pair.

The main course was Chili Rubbed Red Bird Chicken with sweet potato yellow curry, basmati rice, cilantro sweet pea purΓ©e, sriracha and naan. The chicken just fell off the bone and the flavors in the curry and pea purΓ©e were superb. This dish was paired with the Titan IPA, which is one of my favorite IPAs πŸ™‚

Banana Mascarpone Cheesecake was the final course in this amazing beer dinner. It had caramel, chocolate, maple cured peach and a wood smoked bacon crust- yes, you heard me right- bacon crust! This was paired with the Chocolate Oak-Aged Yeti.

  2. The dinner sounds really good! I always wonder about pairing beer with dinner. Do you seem to fill up on the beer at all? I always imagine getting way too full.

    • Well for beer dinners you are just doing short glasses to pair with it so no I don’t get full. Also, each beer is meant to go with each type of food…the darkest beer is with dessert and even those pair nicely πŸ™‚ You may have one full beer to start but it is going to be a light one.

  3. Bacon crust? What a dinner! You must’ve been in heaven.

  4. Delicious little Caribbean diner. I think the dessert deserves a round of applause. Banana Mascarpone Cheesecake with caramel, chocolate, maple cured peach and a wood smoked bacon crust and a matching beer as well, sounds dreamy. You will have to mark this place as a place to visit again. Wishing you a super week. Take Care, BAM

    • Well all that food was specially made for this beer dinner…unfortunately you can’t go to that restaurant and just ask for those things. The chef planned the menu with the brewery. But I was very happy with my decision on going πŸ™‚

  5. What an awesome theme to go with good beer. I enjoy this post very much. Thank you for sharing.

  6. How delicious!

  7. Always love me a beer or wine dinner. Hardly ever a bad time. Now why haven’t I been to one in a while?? hmmmmm πŸ™‚

    • I don’t know but I think you need to get on that! πŸ™‚ They are always a good time- but of course you can try to reenact them in your own home πŸ™‚

  8. WOW! It looks like you had an amazing beer dinner! And that Banana Mascarpone Cheesecake with wood smoked bacon crust must have been something special πŸ™‚
