Comfortable atmosphere, excellent pizza, and superb service only begins to describe Racca’s Pizza. Racca’s Pizza has been a family favorite pizza spot in Denver for a few years so when they invited me in to review their brunch, ecstatic barely described the extent of my excitement.
Racca’s has not appeared on here yet only because every time I go, I am so excited to eat the rich pizza with melt-in-your mouth crust, somehow it disappears from my plate before I can take a picture! Since Lilly Sue’s Bites and Brews is all about the visual appeal, I cannot post without the enticing photos π
Racca’s Pizza serves brunch 11 am to 3 pm Saturdays and Sundays with $3 bloody Mary’s and $10 Bottomless mimosas. Steering away from the typical bloody Mary, they add a special ingredient: Murphy’s Irish Stout. Could I fall more in love- a bloody Mary, my favorite brunch cocktail, and beer?! π Using Tabasco pepper sauce, the bartender made it perfectly spicy!
Listening to the server review each of the brunch pizzas, we had to go with three of them even though we knew they would not be fully consumed in one meal. Each of the breakfast pizzas were topped with cracked fresh eggs which are thrown on sunny side up but then cooked a little further in the fire.
Pizza Taster:
The Tribeca had prosciutto, sweet vidalia onions, roasted peppers, cracked fresh eggs, and fresh mozzarella. The onions and peppers were the stars in this pizza, making it so tasty!
The Chelsea (in the first photo) was a very fresh pizza due to its’ ingredients: crisp pancetta, arugula, grape tomatoes, cracked fresh eggs, and fresh mozzarella.
The Lombardia was the most breakfast-like pizza with crisp pancetta, spring asparagus, oven roasted potatoes, cracked fresh eggs, and fresh mozzarella. I really loved the asparagus on it.
We were spoiled with some delicious specialty cocktails. The Espresso shots were so good…they were not too sweet and I could have definitely had a full drink of it (beware, it is not on the menu but you can act like a regular if you ask for it π ).
The Marcello was the server’s recommended cocktail and it did not disappoint. She described it as a marriage between a mojito and a margarita and that pretty much says it all. The Marcello had tequila, lemon, fresh mint, agave nectar, ginger beer and a splash of moretti. Typically, I steer away from mojitos because of how sweet they are but this was the perfect combination. It was a very refreshing cocktail!
The house-made lemoncello was another tasty shot π And if you happen to be a bar stool connoisseur, these laid-back seats add a cozy touch! Not to mention, the lime green counter top is so inviting!
On this particular occasion, service may have been a little more attentive but I have had great service every time. The staff are always knowledgeable and willing to give suggestions on food and drinks. We have even had some big family events (my graduation, my mom’s birthday) and they have handled my huge, complicated family so well π Mark, the owner, is there a lot and is always so friendly and accommodating.
Food alone cannot make the experience- the food invites you in but it is the whole experience that will keep you coming back again and again and Racca’s Pizza provides that memorable experience.
Buon Appetito!
Note: There was a name change. This restaurant was originally called Macro’s Coal-Fired Pizza. Updated April 2017.

oh man oh man, real brunch pizza, not those frozen Red Baron breakfast pizzas!
Ha ha yep!
only downside (minor one at that) have to trek to NYC π must find a pizza place in NJ crazy enough to pull this idea off!
Well, good luck! I hope you can! Maybe you could give a little idea to your favorite pizza place π
I’m pretty simple – and for anyone in Northern NJ following along:
John’s Boy in Glen Rock, Kinchlies(sp) in Ramsey for a super thin crust, Villa Rosa in Hawthorne has an amazing white pie, and honestly for chains Anthony’s Coal Fired Pizza’s are really good π
speaking of greasy Denver brunch goodness – have you ever had a Fools Gold sandwich?
No. What is that?
1 loaf of bread, 1 lb of bacon, 1 jar peanut butter 1 jar jelly and a bottle of Don. Elvis’ second favorite sandwich according to wiki π
Very interesting! lol Thanks!
at a sane portion size it actually is quite good π http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fool%27s_Gold_Loaf

Delicious. It’s hardly 830am right now but I could most definitely go for a breakfast pizza right about now! They all look great! It’s so true that only the food won’t bring you back – the whole experience and atmosphere will do that even more so…this looks like a great place π
Thank you! Wish i could share a breakfast pizza with you! π
Pizza and bloody marys. A brunch made in heaven, indeed.
