Highland Tap & Burger (HTB) is a great local joint to grab a gourmet burger and craft beer with a comfortable atmosphere for families, friendly gatherings, and football watching. Gourmet burger is not something you come across often at your local pub but HTB cleverly planned the pub atmosphere but without having to compromise great food.
Highland Tap & Burger is located in Lo-Hi (Lower Highlands), a thriving foodie neighborhood in Denver. In the summers, the patio is a pleasant place to enjoy some sun and a cold beer. The patio is a constant lively place. As Colorado’s weather fluctuates, this patio will remain in use into the fall! ๐
There is a selection of beers regularly available on tap from local CO breweries like Avery, Odell, Left Hand, Oskar Blues, New Belgium, and Upslope with a few rotating guest taps. Then there is a wide variety of bottled and canned beers that will be sure to provide you with a desirable option.
For quite a while, I ordered the same thing every time: the Shroom Luvas Burger with a sauteed mushroom blend with Ementhaler cheese and white truffle aioli. It is melt-in-your-mouth delicious!! Once I came to terms with my weakness, I realized to write a review, I needed to venture out and try other items on the menu and unsurprisingly, it did not disappoint.
The Tap Burger and Rock Mountain are other delicious options. The Tap Burger is a beef patty with root beer pulled pork, “Mamas Pilsner” onion ring, american cheese, cheddar cheese and their signature tap sauce. And yes, you heard me right, there is a huge onion ring on the burger ๐ Be ready for a big bite!
The Rock Mountain has rosen Colorado ground lamb with Haystack Mountain Goat Cheese, tomato mint relish and wild baby arugula. If the list of fixings did not already intrigue you, let me assure you this is a delicious combination.
Not in the mood for a burger? There are other options! The Avery IPA Mac N Cheese is good to share as an appetizer or even better, as a meal all to yourself! ๐ Ask the server to add bacon and tomatoes- Yum! The Stranahanโs Barrel Smoked Chicken Wings are another great appetizer. They are simple and delicious.
Another item I NEED to try is the HTB Nachos with Milk Stout chili con queso, pickled jalapenos, tomato, Deviโs salsa verde, lime crema, and scallions. Also, the Ancho Milk Stout Chili sounds perfect on a cool day. Evident by the links provided and food listed, Highland Tap & Burger strives to have local meat, cheese, and spirits a part of their restaurant.
Check out their Happy Hour Monday through Saturday from 3-6:30. There are $3 select drafts, $5 cocktails, and $4-5 snacks. A variety of sliders and steak tacos are some of the happy hour food options. Also, do not miss out on their delicious fries served with a Truffled Aioli!
