New Kids on the Block Beer Festival

Trendy leg warmers, neon tights, cut-off jean shorts, leotards, fanny packs, and all the best 80s wear made for an awesome 80s themed beer festival! The 2nd annual New Kids on the Block (NKOTB) Beer Festival took place this past Thursday at The Lobby in Denver. The night was filled with outstanding 80s outfits, great music, lots of dancing, and beer!

Imbibe, Denver off the Wagon, and PorchDrinking collaborated with The Lobby to bring you the ultimate 80s dance party! PorchDrinking provided a pre-party playlist that featured Cyndi Lauper, Journey, Michael Jackson, and many other fun favorites. Prizes were given to the top three best dressed. This had to be difficult to choose! Lots of people brought their best 🙂

NKOTB Beer Festival is about representing the new breweries. The breweries in attendance will constantly be changing since you cannot be older than 2 years. Meg Batizy, co-owner of The Lobby, said “We always try to support small local breweries, which is why we love hosting this event.” I believe this event will be an ongoing fun tradition that constantly showcases the “New Kids on the Block.”

The event took place at The Lobby, a downtown Denver bar. The Lobby is a fairly spacious venue with two levels and two outdoor patios but it was a fairly intimate beer festival. I really enjoyed that because it did not feel like a race to the beer line. However, the Double IPA from Powder Keg Brewing (opening Summer 2014) ran out before I could get a taste! The Chai Stout, another beer from Powder Keg, was yummy! It made me crave Indian food 🙂 Loveland Aleworks brought one of the most popular beers that was the quickest to empty: a Raspberry Saison. It was so delicious and amazingly easy to drink.

      Have a great week!

      • I am loving Maui Brewing Company lately – Lemongrass Saison and their Breadfruit Collaboration with Dog Fish Brewing Company:) Oh So Refreshing! I am really into Saisons lately – YUM:)

        • You would have liked the Raspberry Saison then at this festival! It was so delicious! The collaboration sounds fun- not sure I will be able to try but I will keep my eyes peeled 🙂 Saisons can be really delicious 🙂 Especially with the warm season approaching, they are very enjoyable to pair with foods.

      • Yes to Raspberry Saison – YUM:) I pretty much can eat whatever and it pairs really well with Saisons.

      • I think the weirdest combination Saison I have had, which was really good was Tahoe Mtn Brewing Company’s Lemon and Pepper Saison.
