As summer approaches, my mind starts to wander towards hiking 14ers, volleyball mountain tournaments, camping, and pretty much anything that involves the outdoors. I have no set camping or hiking plans yet, but they are sure to happen! While sipping on the Backcountry Breakfast Stout I could not help but to think it would be the perfect morning sipper on a camping trip! š
The Breakfast Stout by Backcountry Brewery (Frisco, CO) is a coffee infused milk stout. Milk stout just means that they add lactose to the boil which gives it a creamier body. They put locally roasted Guatemalan and Costa Rican coffee from Rocky Mountain Coffee Roasters in the beer. It does not have an overwhelming coffee flavor like some beers but is very perfectly balanced with the malts. It seemed to have lower carbonation but not as low as a nitro. This smooth creamy coffee stout is sure to be a great addition to any camping trip!

I am a wide range of brews gal and pretty much try most beers put in front of me – ha! I will have to see if I can get this one here. Great Basin Brewery here makes a great milk stout plus a few other stouts with chocolate and coffee – YUM š
Looks like a lovely addition to a morning campfire. I need to add this to my grocery list. Though will have to save my “breakfast” until after I get the kids off to school, haha.
Really amazing, I never heard of a milk stout before. It sounds wonderful for breakfast but I am really thinking about baking with it, Something chocolate maybe.
Most definitely! I have made a few things (cookies, cake) with milk stouts. This one is so delicious to drink but would also be good to cook with if you could get that coffee flavor to come through.
I can’t wait to try it!
I want to go to there. Camping, tubing, living-rooming…

Wow this beer sounds like it packs a good morning punch. Love the idea of the coffee in the beer and that deep dark milky colour is beautiful. I have never seen this beer and will have to keep my eyes open for it now. Take Care, BAM

I was just talking to someone the other day about why people aren’t drinking more beer at brunch. This beer gives people the perfect reason/excuse!
