It’s Friday, so grab your favorite six-pack on the way home from work or enjoy a new beer. Bombers are 22 fl oz bottles of beer that often contain a brewery’s elite or unique concoction. Like a good bottle of wine, they are great for sharing and sipping 🙂 Stay tuned for periodic blasts of bomber Fridays.
As April comes to an end, Colorado decides to do a final (maybe final?!) dump of snow. Reported inches to expect are varying but it will at least be some cooler temperatures. The sun is shining now but it is sure to begin to drastically change soon so go ahead and grab that dark and delicious beer to share with a friend this evening when the snow falls!
The Chocolate Oak-Aged Yeti is one of the four seasonal versions of the Yeti Imperial Stout by Great Divide. It had been too long since having the yeti and even longer since tasting this version. It is loaded with cocoa nibs, making it similar to a yummy chocolate candy bar. It is definitely your dessert beer but not overly sweet due to the oak and some bitterness from the chocolate. We still paired it with chocolate but check out some of their suggested pairings 🙂 Cheers!
Chocolate Oak-Aged Yeti described by Great Divide
CHOCOLATE OAK AGED YETI IMPERIAL STOUT is another revered incarnation of our legendary imperial stout. We toned down the hops a bit to allow cocoa nibs to contribute some pleasing bitterness, while vanilla notes from the oak combine with the cocoa to create an aroma and flavor akin to a gourmet chocolate bar. A dash of cayenne keeps things lively, adding just a bit of heat to the finish. Another great Yeti? Hell yes.
Great Divide Suggested Pairings: Raw oysters, grilled NY strip, chicken mole, Roaring 40’s blue cheese, crème bruleé, chocolate raspberry mousse cake
