Stout Month Picks

Stout Month

The 25th Anniversary of Stout Month is here. All winter long is stout month for me but when Mountain Sun and company switches the majority of their taps to stouts on the 1st of February, I get pretty excited. Look for me celebrating with them often this month ๐Ÿ™‚

Stout Month

Stout month brings all varieties of stouts…Russian imperial, coffee, chocolate, Belgian-style, wheat, chai, cream, pumpkin stouts, and much more.

Looking for something bold and robust? The Nihilist Russian Imperial and the Megatron Imperial Stout are excellent choices. Both of these have a big roasted profile.

Or maybe you fancy a more traditional stout? Try the Dry Irish Stout or the Thunderhead Stout, which is described as their go-to stout. The Yonder Mountain is also an excellent oatmeal stout that will not leave you disappointed.

Stout Month

Since stout month has only just begun, I have not tried too many from this year yet (stay tuned via twitter and instagram). However, I must mention a few of my favorites from 2017…Planet Lovetron, Addition Imperial Coffee Stout, and Dark Harvest Pumpkin. Planet Lovetron is a Chocolate Coconut Imperial Milk Stout. This stout is creamy and decadent. My mouth is salivating just thinking of it. Love coffee? Addition Imperial Coffee Stout has copious amounts of tasty coffee added making this a wonderful brew ๐Ÿ˜‰ Though not typically a pumpkin beer lover, the Dark Harvest Pumpkin Stout is an excellent stout that I can easily drink again and again.

Stout Month

There are a few on the 2018 stout month list that I am excited to try. The Second Breakfast Chocolate Coffee Oat Stout is low in alcohol content (4.7% ABV) yet described as chewy, silky, and full-flavored. The Nedโ€™s Two-Alarm Cherry Chile Stout sounds intriguing and worth a taste. No matter what type of stout you fancy, you are sure to find something you like. Vine Street in Denver is the place I frequent but there is also Mountain Sun, Souther Sun, and Under the Sun in Boulder and Longs Peak Pub in Longmont. Get the full beer list here.

Cheers!

  1. David Wright says:

My two favorites: the Korova cream stout redefines delicious. And for absolutely perfect balance, the Norwegian Wheat Stout. Have another; both are low alcohol.

    • Hi David, thanks for commenting. Both of those are good as well – the Norwegian was going down well the other night ๐Ÿ™‚
