It was my boyfriends birthday this past weekend. We started with watching the Broncos game Saturday with my dad and brothers…though that was a disappointment we had some ridiculously tasty tacos and enjoyed some good brews.
That night we went out with friends and had a great time but on his actual birthday (Sunday) I had a surprise for just the two of us.
I know I am constantly mentioning my man but he was my original blog inspiration and we may have connected over beer π It was at Vine Street Pub (Denver) where we shared our first beer tasting and realized we were more alike than we thought when we rated the beers π
He had to keep his eyes closed as I drove to Vine Street. Luckily, with a few unnecessary turns to confuse him we arrived without him figuring it out π
We shared a flight of beer tasters and a basket of fries while we played Gin Rummy (he won for the first time in a while!). Vine Street has a very comfortable and friendly environment. Vine Street Pub has sister restaurants in Boulder: Mountain Sun and Southern Sun. All the restaurants have a very cozy atmosphere with a great waitstaff.
Guests can play scrabble or just enjoy the company of others. There are no TVs at any of their restaurants because they want their “guests to meet and discuss the world in which we live.”
Though this is a pub the food is beyond just pub food. We may consider it gourmet pub food from burgers and fries to soups and salads. The Date Night Burger is a delicious choice with roasted poblano peppers, hickory smoked bacon, goat cheese, and a date puree.
For birthdays, they provide a birthday pint or they offered some dessert dish with their Isadore Java Porter. We didn’t try the dessert because my man wanted another Annapurna Amber. This was a delicious amber that we both rated as our #1 π Typically we would choose the hoppy beers as our favorite but this amber was so smooth and had respectable caramel notes. Yum!
The night ended well with some delicious dessert at D Bar (Uptown, Denver). A full review coming soon!
