It’s Friday, so grab your favorite six-pack on the way home from work or enjoy a new beer. Bombers are 22 fl oz bottles of beer that often contain a brewery’s elite or unique concoction. Like a good bottle of wine, they are great for sharing and sipping π Stay tuned for periodic blasts of bomber Fridays.
While I was in Atlanta a few weeks ago I grabbed a couple bombers for the road flight. Both times that I have visited Atlanta I have not been able to make it to Red Brick Brewing so I decided to try one of their beers. Red Brick Brewing was founded in 1993 and is the oldest operating craft brewery in Georgia. The Matcha Super Green Yuzu is one of their seasonal releases. Its name and label with green hophead ninjas are enough to lure you in and then…
The label reads:
“Resolve your yin and yang and awaken your true brew destiny with this IPA infused with Rishi Matcha Super Green Yuzu tea. Earthy, grassy and bright citrus notes balance on a katana blade with the nimble touch of sweet honey malt. Take a sip and honor the Super Matcha warrior spirit within, unleashing the skill and fortune of a great brew ninja.”
This ale poured pale amber in color and was fairly cloudy. I first smelt the citrus come through in the aroma. It had both earthy and citrus notes in the taste. The “sweet honey malt” must have been what made this a smooth and very balanced IPA. It was a very refreshing and delicious IPA!
Red Brick Suggested Food Pairings: Katana sliced sashimi, lemon pepper chicken wings, seared ahi tuna over mixed greens with soy wasabi vinaigrette, soba noodles with beef tataki
ABV: 7.8%
